Lumineers Warranty

When people purchase big ticket items, they are accustomed to seeing a lengthy warranty period. After all, they don’t want to see their investment go to shreds after only being able to enjoy the product for only a few months, or worse, a few days. Dental work has and always will be a big ticket item. However, the stakes tend to be much higher than in the case of consumer products. A single dental restoration (such as a crown) can easily cost thousands of dollars. If it fails, the health of the underlying tooth structure can be severely jeopardized, especially if the problem remains unaddressed for some time.

Lumineers are a restorative product that has enjoyed massive popularity as a result of its non-invasive installation technique, which mitigates the need for Novocaine injections and tooth structure removal. Now, these veneers are covered by a 5 year limited warranty which starts from the moment they are delivered to the cosmetic dentist’s office from the dental lab. When patients learn of this warranty, they mistakenly assume that things like improper installation are covered. Hence, there’s seemingly little motivation to focus excessive effort in finding a qualified dentist. The company is willing to cover the expenses after all.

It turns out that the Lumineers warranty lives up to the definition of a limited warranty. Coverage is not extended to patients in all circumstances. In the case of improper installation, the patient will have to pay for corrective work out of pocket unless they reach some sort of arrangement with the dentist. Now, improper installation isn’t limited to technique. If the wrong bonding cement is used, for example, the dentist forfeits the warranty.

As a patient, you are required to fulfill some responsibilities as well. To be eligible for repair or replacement under the Lumineers warranty, you need to attend regular dental checkups and cleanings. Your visits will need to be recorded by your general dentist to count towards the warranty. This documentation, as well as proof of coverage, will have to be submitted to the Cerinate Smile Design Studio for processing. It is unclear how long the processing stage may take.

Some patients have asked whether or not an extended warranty is available. To our knowledge, there is no such option available at this time. If you want extra assurance that the procedure will be conducted satisfactorily, you should invest as much time as possible in researching local providers. Only Lumineers-certified cosmetic dentists should be considered for this procedure to ensure that your warranty remains intact in the unfortunate case that something does go wrong (which under such circumstances would most likely be a product defect). These dentists have received instruction in proper installation technique from professionals. Remember that bargain hunting doesn’t qualify as effective use of your time when searching for a dentist. Ask potential dentists about the past Lumineers cases they have handled and how favorable the outcomes were. Pictures of cases are always reassuring. Unless you feel fully confident in a dentist’s ability to execute this procedure, you should better continue looking.
